Subeta roleplaying for writers
I wanted to let you guys know about subeta in case you haven’t heard of it. Kathryn loves it. It’s a great forum for writing fantasy roleplays.
When you first go to subeta it looks similar to Neopets with a world to click on and pets to collect but the most popular part is the forums (under Interact in the sidebar of the subeta page.) Members collect pets (up to 5 with a free account) and then most often roleplay in the forums as anthropomorphic forms of their pets. She said there are users with ages ranging from about 7-54.
(The pets you can choose at subeta are four legged. For roleplaying kids will transform — that is, draw them and often upload the pictures to Photobucket to share with others — the pets into anthro forms. Anthro just means they walk upright like a human but there are a lot of different types of anthro: humanlike with bits from the pet like tails and ears and wings, or fully animal form that walks upright and anything in between.)
Basically the roleplayers go to the forum and read through the available ongoing roleplaying adventures and join in to one or more that appeal to them. They can also create their own roleplay adventure and wait for others to participate. Or they can do private roleplaying with another person through subeta’s mail system.
You might be able to see Kathryn’s pets if you go to her User Page. (Though you might have to join first.)
If you click on her pets you can see descriptions of their personalities and histories which enhances the roleplaying since it defines the relationships between the pets and with the larger world.
The most popular roleplaying adventures are members playing their Anthro pets, and next comes Wolves, Dragons, Pokemon, and sometimes there are Harry Potter role plays. There are occasionally others like Eragon, Kamichama Karin and Sonic the hedgehog depending on what someone wants to start.
Lots and lots and lots of fun writing.
If you can’t figure subeta out from what I’ve written here, just ask and Kathryn will be happy to explain.
